FD RAFTING IN OLLANTAYTAMBO

Early morning, the guide will pick you up from your hotel and then take one of the most scenic drive through the Andean Mountains passing charming villages, farms and lagoons.  While the snowcapped mountain range dominates the view to the west, you will be amazed by the sacred and impressive Salkantay mountain 20574.15 f/6271 m.  Continuing the trip, you will enjoy of great scenic overlooks of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, including some archeological sites.

Upon arrival to the river, your river guide will give you a safety briefing and demonstrate rafting commands. It will be then time to gear up with your wetsuits, helmets, waterproof jacket and life jacket.  It will take some minutes to practice all the commands and instructions given, and once, when everyone is ready it’s time to begin your rafting adventure!

This section is perfect for beginners, families and for school groups. During the first hour, the river is calm with some level I and II rapids while the last hour you will go through rapids such as Ollanta (level III), Toboggan (level III) and some other rapids with nice waves and holes full of fun. If the weather condition is warm, you can always jump to the river!

After your adventure is finished, you will have a delicious lunch with a fantastic Andean scenery, with hot and cold drinks waiting for you. After lunch, you will return back to Cusco by bus.

What to bring?

  • Shorts (obligatory in order to wear over the wet suit)
  • Bathing costume
  • Sandals like Teva or Chacos with straps that secure the foot properly, tennis shoes can also be a best alternative (flip flops  not acceptable).
  • Dry shoes for after the rafting.
  • Sun block, drinking water, insect repellent.
  • Towel and dry warm clothes for after rafting.
  • Eyes glasses need to have a string or rope attached to avoid falling down.

NOTE: If you will run the Ollantaytambo section we recommend to overnight in Cusco, Chincero, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo,  if your hotel is located in other places, like Pisac, Huayllabamba and Yucay  an additional transfer will be charged.
