Perú President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros celebrate the launch of the first cabe car system in Perú, that will allow the access to the archaeological monument of Kuelap, located in Chachapoyas province of Amazonas región, in only 20 minutes.
The cable-car system can transport up to 1,000 people per day, with a transfer time of 20 minutes and a total elevation gain of 670 meters.
Kuelap is considered one of Peru’s most significant archaeological sites. It was built by the Chachapoyas people and dates back to 500-1450 AD. The fortress is located at the summit of a hill and surrounded by up to 20-meter-high walls. According the experts, Kuelap will become the most important destination in the northeastern part of Peru.
Amazonas region is home of various tourist attractions as Gocta Waterfalls, Karajía Sarcophagy, Revash, Quiocta cavern, Leimebamba museum, etc.
