Group services versus Private services?

This is a question we all need to ask ourselves when planning a trip. The answer depends largely on the age, the particular interests of each person and, above all, the economy of each passenger. Below, we list the differences between conducting a group service versus a private service. It should be noted that, in either of the two modalities, you will receive top quality care from the entire team of professionals who will make your trip unforgettable

Group Services

  • The driver follows the stops designated by the tour
  • Groups can have between 15 and 20 people
  • Guidance is simultaneous in English and Spanish for the entire group
  • The itinerary has to be strict to fulfill the daily plan
  • Guidance is available at the same time for the entire group
  • The main advantage of group services is the affordable price

Private Services

  • The driver will make the necessary stops where you indicate
  • Of 5 or more people, the private service has a similar price to the group service.
  • You own the time you want to have at each stop
  • Guidance is in only 1 language and at the passenger’s choice (prior consultation for rare languages)
  • The guide will be available only for you and attentive to your requirements
  • The travel experience becomes much more personal and deep in knowledge

We urge you to get in touch with us so we can design your trip to Peru together, probably combining some excursions in private and some in group services. Our team of experienced voyagers knows what it means to plan a trip of a lifetime as well as the investment that implies, therefore, we want everything to go perfect.

  • Discover the biggest National Reserve of Peru with 2 million hectares, also considered the largest protected flooded forest of the world and one of the richest places in biological wealth on the planet.
  • Surround yourself by an incredible variety of exotic plants and animals that you will not only see but actually have the chance to interact with.
  • Take a photo shoot to the species in danger of extinction like the giant otter, the black lizard, the manatee and the pink dolphin of the Amazon.

Lunch & dinner.

Begin our Peruvian jungle adventure at the Iquitos City Airport. From there our journey will be 60 miles to the town of Nauta, the first town ship founded by the Spanish at the Marañón River, where we will visti a pond and see species such as the Paiche (largest Amazonian fish), Arawana, Quelonios (Taricaya, Charapa), and regional turtle, as well as a brief story at the Centenary Square. After this short visit we will board our boat and arrive to the Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge where we will have a warm welcome with a seasonal fruit drink and a presentation in the Kukama Kukamiria native language by a tribe member. In the afternoon we will go for a walk where we will identify flora and fauna in the forest surrounding the Lodge. We will return at night to try to locate the Demdrobates, tiny poison-dart frogs characterized by their bright colors.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner

After breakfast we will go to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve to an area called “Nauta Caño” enjoying a lunch on board. During our excursion we will search for pink and gray freshwater dolphins. We will also be immersed in the wide variety of flora and fauna that the reserve offers. The first thing that will call your attention is how the river water perfectly reflects the sky, clouds, vegetation and large trees along the river banks. Visitors will have the sensation of sailing between endless mirrors, which is why Pacaya Samiria is also known as “the forest of mirrors”. We will also go for a walk through the flooded forests, where we will try to see some primates and sloths. During the journey we can also observe a variety of birds and the traditional Amazonian subsistence fishing practice. Next, we will return to the Lodge to visit the women’s crafts center (seasonal) of the San Jorge community, known for their work with natural Chambira fiber and Wingoor pumpkin carving. You will have down time, followed by dinner. After dinner a guide will invite us to move to a different space to share myths and legends of the Peruvian Amazon.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner

After breakfast we bound the community of “20 de Enero” to appreciate the different jobs held by local residents organized as groups of natural resource management to preserve the species. Activities as Aguaje scaling, canoeing and artisanal fisheries can be done there. Later on, we will learn about the worlview of the Amazonian man in relation to the “Ayahuasca” and the medicinal plants.

After breakfast, we will sail through the Marañón River towards a small lagoon called “Shiriyacu”, where we will try to fish just like local people are used to. We will enjoy the nature around us in this unique flooded area.

Once at the lodge we will have some rest and immediately we will return to the city airport.

Note: All itineraries are subject to change, due to weather and other conditions. All times indicated are approximate, and are also subject to change.

We recommend taking vitamin B or B12 prior to your arrival in the jungle as it is the best natural repellent against pesky mosquitoes.

Ask our experts travel advisors to complete your trip including a visit to the majestic Colca Canyon, the mysterious Nazca lines, the enigmatic jungle or the Kingdom of the Chachapoyas
